This scenic walking track takes you through an ancient volcano full of caves, waterfalls, Maori history, and fascinating geology and botany.
It features stunning views across the Canterbury Plains to the Pacific Ocean, and is usually accompanied by a continuous chorus of native birdsong. The entire walk is accessible by specially constructed stairs and boardwalks, and normally takes between 1 and 3 hours to complete. Information guides and walking sticks are also available for use.
